Life in Ovacik is peaceful ,calm and
traditional. People in Ovacik depend on the various
bazaars opened mainly for the convenience of tourists coming to
the resort.
Shopping can be done at the Grand Bazaar houses. These
shopping malls in the Ovacik contain various Turkish products
like carpets and leather items, metal jewelry, and stunning
handicrafts. The products available are exhibited on the
Ovacik travel websites. Shopping for clothes can be done at
nearby cities like Dalaman and Fethiye.
Not many buses run in the outskirts of
Ovacik and to travel to a nearby locations, tourists can rent a
car. Car companies provide cars on rent and many villagers have their own cars and vehicles. The
costs can be saved ,as the rates are fixed on the
internet itself. Generally the car driver will take you to the
destinations through short cuts and it is an advantage if you
wish to travel through the unexplored interiors of the
nearby striking Turkish resorts.

Kurdish farmers who were allowed in Ovacik
after the arrival of the Republican government have their
imprints on the life of the villagers. Muslim began creeping to this
region after the formation of the government. The government forced the kurds to abandon their tribal
life by accepting the modern way of living.
The houses built in Ovacik villages are of
many types. The villagers live in thatch - roofed cottages with
timber from nearby forests. In rural areas of Ovacik, many
people have replaced their old wooden homes with one-storey
houses of concrete blocks. Life has gone easier after the
arrival of various tourists who started buying properties here
but still the lives of villagers spend their lives in the old
traditional huts.Most of the wealthy residents of Ovacik are
foreigners.
The main food of Ovcacik is cracked wheat bread and yogurt. They also eat
lamb meat, rice, and aubergine. Turkish foods are famous for
their tasty shish kebab, which consists of pieces of lamb,
tomatoes, peppers, onion cooked together on a skewer.

Family outings and celebrations are the
most common form of recreations in Ovacik. The people in
Ovacik
enjoy drinking coffee or tea at a restaurant with a scenic
view. The life is colorful in Ovacik as many spend their
leisure time in coffee houses playing the ancient dice game of
the backgammon.
Archery, horse riding, soccer and wrestling
are the favorite event at festivals and wrestling matches.
Moreover, the life in Ovacik changed when tourists began to
pour into this region. The dressing style of the villagers is
of a Muslim type. The villagers here feel that their
lifestyle is the main characteristics the tourists get attracted
to.

display their vivacious culture that was earlier dominant in their
society. After the installation of Republican government
major changes took place in the living styles of the people in
Ovacik but basically people are nature loving and simple.
